Ringworms are fungal infections that can affect any part of the body. Parts of the body like the feet, scalp and the nails are affected in a big way. An infected person gets a red ring shaped patch on the skin on the areas mentioned above. The infectious nature of the ringworms allows it to spread in the body with a lot of ease.

There are various over-the-counter medications available to cure ringworms. You would find many medications available over-the-counter. Whether they are effective in treating ringworms or not – That is another question, but for now, you should know that these drugs are available to fix the problem in hand.

Some oral medications are prescribed in cases where ringworm has spread to the entire body. Such cases are detected regularly, especially at times when ringworm is in a very serious stage.

But if you do not wish to see a doctor to treat ringworms, there are some home cures and remedies for ringworms-

  • A paste of turmeric powder and water is considered to be of the best natural cures for this disease.
  • Soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and then apply on the affected area and keep it soaked for 10-15 minutes before bedtime every day. Wash it off and dry. You can also bandage it and leave it overnight.
  • Lemon, cut in halves and by using common salt in addition to it on the affected areas, you could get a quick fix to this disease.
  • Rub green walnut on the affected area. The fungus resulting in the infection gets killed.
  • Apply extract of basil leaves and rub over the affected area. Allow it to dry then wash off.
  • Rub a piece of raw papaya on the infected area. Repeat for 3-4 times a day.
  • Make a mixture of carrot and spinach juice. Apply on affected area a couple of times a day.
  • Application of mudpack on the affected area can also help.
  • Make a paste of mustard seed powder and water. Apply over infected area, let it dry and then wash off. Repeat it 2-3 times a day.
  • Cut open an aloe-vera plant and rub its inner side on the affected area. It’s known to relief pain.

There are various ways in which you can treat ringworms. But by maintaining personal hygiene and following certain precautions, you can prevent yourself from this fungal infection.
